3LPE (3-Layer Polyethylene) Coating
Description:
3LPE coating is a three-layer system consisting of:
Fusion-Bonded Epoxy (FBE) as the primer layer for adhesion and corrosion protection.
Copolymer Adhesive as the middle layer for bonding.
Polyethylene (PE) as the outer layer for mechanical protection and moisture resistance.
Applications:
Widely used for buried or submerged pipelines in oil, gas, and water industries due to its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical strength.
Temperature Range:
Typically up to 60°C (140°F).
3PP (3-Layer Polypropylene) Coating
Description:
3PP coating is similar to 3LPE but uses Polypropylene (PP) as the outer layer. The three layers are:
Fusion-Bonded Epoxy (FBE) as the primer layer.
Copolymer Adhesive as the middle layer.
Polypropylene (PP) as the outer layer.
Applications:
Suitable for high-temperature environments (e.g., oil pipelines) due to PP's higher temperature resistance compared to PE.
Temperature Range:
Typically up to 110°C (230°F).
3LPE and 3PP Coatings standard:
ISO 21809-1: Petroleum and natural gas industries - External coatings for buried or submerged pipelines.
DIN 30670: Polyethylene coatings for steel pipes and fittings.
CSA Z245.21: External fusion-bonded epoxy coating for steel pipes.
Diameter & WT Range:
3LPE and 3PP:
Diameter: Up to Φ1420 mm (56 inches).
WT:4-40mm
Coating protection:
Cushioning: Coated pipes are separated by wooden or rubber spacers to prevent coating damage.
Bundling: Bundled with steel straps, ensuring no direct contact between pipes.
Wrapping: Wrapped with protective materials (e.g., plastic, foam) to prevent scratches and abrasion.
